One way to determine the gratuity, or
tip, of a meal is to double the sales tax.

Since the tip percent is about 15 % and the sales tax is about 8 %, doubling the sales tax can be a good way to find the tip.

Yes! Many people use this method to find tip.

You can move the decimal point over 1 place to find 10%. If you want to find 15%, you can just add half of that amount to the amount.

You can also use a tip calculator on a cellular phone. That is my favorite because it's the easiest and you can split it between people.

Mrs. Morey,

What a great idea! Teaching our students how to tip in math class is awesome!
...do you know what the difference between a lawyer and a canoe is?

...the canoe tips! HA!
